Sr. Engineer, Reliability Engineering

Job Description

You will be part of a core team that will turn product concepts into volume based products.  You will be expected to drive the product conformance testing and influence the design of product elements for reliability.

Primary Areas of Responsibility:

Test and Reliability Engineering

  • Develop and select methodologies and equipment to evaluate the conformance of our products to internal and customer performance and reliability requirements.
  • Design, create and conduct product/materials performance characterization under a variety of use and stress conditions.
  • Design optimum accelerated life testing of materials, components, and systems to generate the relevant acceleration factors through DOE methodology to predict product reliability.
  • Improve data capture capabilities (including automation of test) and analyze test results.
  • Review and assess stress test capabilities of outsource firms and suppliers and coordinate test activities with them as needed.
  • Work with the design, development and process teams to test proposed materials or system components to determine whether they meet performance and reliability requirements.  Communicate quantitative results to the team.  Lead design and process FMEAs.
  • Evaluate and develop innovative solutions (design, material selection) that directly impact product requirements such as noise, packaging, manufacturability and reliability.
  • Drive the activities necessary to obtain regulatory/safety/standards compliance.

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • BS/MS/PhD. in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Applied Physics or related field with minimum 3 years experience in reliability engineering, preferably in a product development and manufacturing company which currently ships in volume.
  • Demonstrated track record of influencing product design via thorough and intelligent test/reliability methods.   Ability to research technical issues and generate innovative solutions.
  • Working knowledge of statistical methods necessary for establishing DOEs, analyzing test results and predicting product failure rates and lifetimes.
  • Experience in driving FMEA, failure rate analyses, and accelerated life testing using DOE methodologies.
  • Hands-on testing experience. Working knowledge of test/reliability methods and tools.
  • Working experience with LabView and other data acquisition software.
  • Disciplined at data capture, documentation, and test plan/case creation.
  • Flexibility to optimize materials development effort with limited resources, both people and equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, a team orientation, consistent work habits, and a can-do attitude.  Ability to work as a member or a leader of a cross-functional engineering team.
  • Passion to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong personal references.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of CAD tools.
  • Familiarity with characterizing thermal interface materials.
  • Understanding of fluid mechanics and heat transfer.

Logistics

  • Compensation will be based on a competitive base salary and benefits.
  • We would like to fill this position as soon as possible, but our primary goal is to find a great addition to our team.
